To file income tax returns, one must have a PAN card, and it is crucial that all of the information on the PAN card is accurate and up to date. How to Update PAN Card Offline
- To apply for a PAN Card correction/update offline, you need to follow the steps mentioned below:
- Download the Request for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data Form
- Fill all the mandatory fields in the form carefully
- Attach the supporting documents such as proof of identity, proof of address, passport size photographs, etc.
- Once done, submit the form at the nearest NSDL collection center
- You will have to pay the applicable charges for PAN card update/correction offline. Following this, you will get a 15-digit acknowledgement number to track the status of PAN card application
- Note: You also need to file a letter with the jurisdictional Assessing Officer. The required fields in the offline form are similar to those in the online form. However, there are a few points one should keep in mind-
- Once you submit the form, you will get an acknowledgement slip which is to be sent to NSDL office. This letter should reach the office within 15 days of filing the request.
How to Update PAN Card Online
- You can easily update/correct your details in a PAN card by following the below-mentioned steps:
- Visit www.tin-nsdl.com, the official website of NSDL E-Governance.
- Under Services Section, Click on “PAN”.
- Click “Apply” under the “Change/Correction in PAN Data” section.
- From the ‘Application Type’ dropdown menu, select ‘Changes or Correction in existing PAN data/Reprint of PAN Card (No changes in Existing PAN Data)’.
- From the ‘Category’ dropdown menu, select the correct category of the assessee, For example, if the PAN is registered in your name, select ‘Individual’ from the list.
- Now, enter your name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number.
- Fill the Captcha and click on “Submit”.
- Your request will be registered and a Token Number will be sent to the email ID provided by you. You can continue the process by clicking the button given below it.
- After you proceed, you will be redirected to the form – there are three options to submit your documents, click on “Submit scanned images through e-Sign on NSDL e-gov”.
- Fill in all the necessary details such as your father’s name, mother’s name (optional), your Aadhaar number and click on ‘Next’.
- You will now be redirected to a new page where you can update your address.
- Upload all the necessary documents such as proof of address, proof of age, proof of identity and PAN.
- You need to sign the declaration and click “Submit”.
- You will be redirected to the payment page. Payment can be made through demand draft, net banking, and Credit card/Debit card.
- On successful payment, an acknowledgement slip will be generated. The applicant should take a print of it and send it to the NSDL e-gov office along with the physical proof of documents. Also, affix two photographs in the space provided and sign across it. Write ‘Application for PAN Change’ on top of the envelope along with the acknowledgement number.

How to Download PAN Card Online
- To download PAN card online, you have to visit the government website https://www.utiitsl.com/
- After this you have to click on PAN Card Services. You will have to click on Apply PAN from the drop down menu that opens.
- After that a new page will open, many options will be available out of which you will have to click on Download e-PAN.
- Now you will have to submit your details in the page that will open. In this, PAN card number and date of birth will have to be filled in MM/YYYY format.
- Then enter the captcha code and click on Submit.
- After that you will be asked to confirm your email id and mobile number. Here you have to enter Captcha and choose Mode of OTP. There will be Both Email and SMS, Only Email and Only SMS. You can choose anyone.
- If your number or mail is not registered then you may also be asked to enter it.
- After selecting OTP Mode you will receive OTP. Enter it.
- After that another page will open in which you will be asked to make a payment of Rs 8.26. You can do this through any mode. After making the payment, a MSG will come on your phone which will have a link to E-PAN.
- After that you have to click on this link. After this, in the page that will open, you will have to enter OTP which will have come on your phone.
- After this you will be asked to download E-PAN. You have to click on the download option.
- By doing this, E-PAN will be downloaded in your phone.
